If it wasn't so serious, it would be hilarious

An Irish research company called Research and Markets has published a report on blogging in the enterprise entitled Web Logs: Blog Threat Management.

A snippet from their press release:

DUBIN, Ireland, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Blogging is rapidly emerging as a threat to Internet users. [...] While blogs have a legitimate use, online journals pose serious threats to enterprise confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Blogs are potentially contributory to regulatory non-compliance in that blogs may not be documented communications and may also violate privacy considerations.

I haven't seen the report and it may well be a balanced and well-researched portrayal of the subject matter, so I'll reserve any further comment for now. But with topic headings that include "Internet Crime Overview: These Entities Can Scan Blogs, in Addition to the Crimes Noted" and "Blog Acceptable Use Policy: ZERO TOLERANCE", how can it be?

I can't resist saying, though, that as they're asking more than €1,000 for the report, it must all be a joke. So I've filed this one under the new category of "You Must Be Joking."
